Speak Up, Southwest Florida: WINK Listens in DeSoto County

DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — Join us at the Turner Agri-Civic Center, 2250 NE Roan St., Arcadia, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

WINK Listens. The stories come in all shapes and sizes. From city hall to potholes to bad bills to the baseball diamond.

"You got 30 girls, 15, a team," said one player, describing the Powder Puffs softball team on Marco Island.

But a common link -- people come to share.

"My main focus has been not just selling art, but selling art and raising money for charities," a man shared.

Some need help.

"I didn't know where else to go, so I'm glad you guys came out here," stated one attendee.

"We have no practice spot, and our team completely crumbles apart. We can't be a club anymore," explained Wade Johnson, a member of a rowing team.

"Water sits in there all summer long, and we have a mosquito issue," said one man who is fed up with the pesky pests.

WINK Listens is our way to help everyone have a voice. We can't promise every story has a happy ending, but it is our mission to listen.
