Hurricane season starts in 48 days, Weather Authority helps SWFL prepare

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, (WINK) — The Weather Authority is helping Southwest Florida residents prepare for hurricane season, which begins in 48 days.

The WINK Weather Authority meteorologists are visiting communities across the region to share preparedness tips at expos, schools and homeowners' associations.

Hurricane Milton's anniversary: Remembering Florida's record tornadoes

It’s been one year since Hurricane Milton tore through the Sunshine State, triggering a tornado outbreak in South and Southwest Florida.

The first event took place at Lake Fairways Country Club in North Fort Myers, where Weather Authority Meteorologist Josh Green spoke to neighbors about hurricane preparedness.

The community experienced a direct blow from Hurricane Ian and was also hit by one of the tornadoes spawned by Hurricane Milton.
