Cape Coral man accused of stealing watch, brandishing firearm during Facebook Marketplace meetup

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

A Cape Coral man is accused of stealing a watch and brandishing a firearm during a Facebook Marketplace meetup.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers were called to the 2700 block of Northwest 22nd Street for an armed robbery.

The victim told officers that they had arranged a meetup with the suspect on Facebook Marketplace to sell a Cartier watch. During the meeting, the victim said that the suspect grabbed the watch and brandished a firearm, making a threatening statement before running away.

After an initial search, CCPD says that officers were unable to locate the suspect. Their Violent Crimes Unit Detectives continued the investigation and determined that the suspect was Jermaine Nembhard Jr., 23.

A search warrant was obtained for Nembhard Jr.'s home, and during the execution officers say evidence related to the robbery was obtained, including the firearm that was used during the crime.

Nembhard Jr. was arrested and charged with armed robbery.
