Body camera footage from April 7 shows Collier County deputies responding to a theft at a Walmart on Collier Boulevard.
Deputies said Nick Vincent, 40, reportedly walked out of the store with a shopping cart full of expensive items, including $300 slushie machines and vacuum cleaners, as well as smaller items like socks and a bag of Cheetos.
“This is very bizarre. We don’t hear that type of thing in this town,” said Naples resident John Francois.
According to deputies, Vincent was accused of attempting to steal merchandise totaling $1,563.72. The body camera video shows a deputy chasing him with a Taser as he reportedly tried to flee the parking lot and run into a busy street.
“That’s crazy that he would actually run into a busy street like that after being tased,” said visitor Mary Ann Sendik.
Vincent made it past all sales points in the store with the reportedly stolen items in a shopping cart and concealed under his clothes. He was arrested and faces charges of grand theft.
“It’s very sad. Luckily, no one got hurt,” Sendik said.
Jail records show Vincent is from Pompano Beach on Florida’s east coast. His next court date is scheduled for May 4.
Walmart staff provided an itemized receipt for the stolen items, which totaled $1,563.72.
