Trader Joe's settlement: are you eligible for a $100+ payout?

UNITED STATES, (WINK)—Trader Joe's has agreed to a $7.4 million settlement over claims that receipts showed too many numbers from customers' credit and debit cards.

Customers who used a credit or debit card at Trader Joe's between March 5, 2019, and July 19, 2019, could be eligible for a payout of up to about $102.45. A paper receipt from that period is not required to file a claim.

However, the settlement administrator may ask to verify your claim. You can do that by showing your credit or debit card statement from 2019.

Your receipt needs to have the first six and last four digits of your card number. You also need to be the account holder on the card you used.

Not every purchase during that period qualifies. Only purchases at stores where the affected payment software was running are eligible.

If you qualify, you have until June 9 to file a claim. A court hearing to determine whether to approve the settlement is scheduled for Aug. 10.
