New charges filed for suspect in Arcadia double homicide

ARCADIA, Fla. (WINK)— New charges have been filed after the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office and Arcadia Police Department responded to a shooting involving two women at the Jacaranda Trail Apartments on Friday.

According to the Arcadia Police Department, at 9:12 a.m. on Friday, units from both agencies responded to a shooting stemming from a domestic incident.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found a deceased woman with multiple gunshot wounds. An investigation was launched as law enforcement combed the area for a shooting suspect.

Law enforcement found their suspect, Eric Devon Robinson, in the area and arrested him.

At 1:09 p.m., while still on the scene investigating, officers were alerted to a second woman in an adjacent building who was not responsive.

The second woman had sustained gunshot wounds and was deceased.

Robinson has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault. He is also facing one count of possession of a weapon by a felon, contempt of court, kidnapping, obstructing justice, a weapons offense and robbery.
