Meth trafficking drug bust leads to 3 arrests, child in DCF custody, in Punta Gorda

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. —

Three people were arrested Friday after Charlotte County deputies served a search warrant at a home during an investigation into suspected methamphetamine trafficking.

Charlotte County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit served the warrant at a home on Maravilla, looking for Amanda Williams, 38, who they say was selling and trafficking-sized amounts of methamphetamine from the home.

During the search, detectives found methamphetamine, digital scales, numerous individual baggies and drug paraphernalia, the sheriff's office said.

Williams was arrested on durg-related charges, including trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and child neglect.

Also arrested were Billy Travis, 41, who deputies said faces charges including possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and Carol Porter, 58, who was arrested on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge.

The Florida Department of Children and Families also came to the scene and took custody of a child who was at the home and relocated them with family.
