Naples Mayor Teresa Heitmann arrested after testing positive for cannabinoids, violating probation

NAPLES, Fla. —

Naples Mayor Teresa Heitmann was arrested on Monday after being accused of violating the terms of her probation in her DUI case, before a warrant was issued on April 17 for her arrest.

In August of 2024, Heitmann was arrested by Naples Police after responding to a 911 call from a couple who said that they were being followed home. According to police, the callers said that the woman driving claimed to be the mayor and was intoxicated.

Officers arrested Heitmann at the scene on DUI charges.

An affidavit for violation of probation dated April 17 says Heitmann failed to "live and remain at liberty without violating any law" because she possessed or used a controlled substance.

The filing says Heitmann tested positive for cannabinoids on March 26.

Court records show a warrant for Heitmann's arrest was issued the same day the affidavit was filed.

The probation allegation follows earlier developments in the case this year. In January, Gulf Coast News reported on Heitmann's DUI trial, before she changed her plea to no contest in the 2024 DUI case.

The terms of the plea agreement included:

Adjudication of guilt
$1,000 fine, 5% surcharge
12 months of probation, may be terminated early at 6 months
DUI school
Substance abuse evaluation
Random testing
No consumption of alcohol (unless in Heitmann's residence)
10-day vehicle impound
6-month driver's license revocation
6-month ignition interlock
50 hours of community service

As of Tuesday, the court record provided by the clerk showed the probation violation filing and arrest warrant in the case.
