Lee County solid waste set to begin seasonal adjustments to trash pick-up schedule

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

Lee County Solid Waste is set to begin its seasonal adjustments to the trash pick-up schedule on May 1.

According to Lee County, residents of unincorporated Lee County, the Town of Fort Myers Beach, Village of Estero and City of Bonita Springs are asked to set their trash, recycling and yard waste out to the curb by 5 a.m. beginning on May 1.

The new time is 90 minutes earlier than the 6:30 a.m. set-out time, but is designed to help the contracted haulers' collection crews complete routes earlier in the day as the summer heat arrives, Lee County said.

The seasonal adjustment does not impact the day of the week residents have their trash collected.

The unincorporated areas of Lee County affected by the change are:

• Alva
• Captiva
• Fort Myers Shores
• Iona
• Lehigh Acres
• Matlacha
• North Fort Myers
• Pine Island
• South Fort Myers
