Man arrested, accused of slapping victim, displaying gun in road rage incident in Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

A Cape Coral man was arrested on Tuesday after being accused of slapping and threatening another driver during a road rage dispute.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the intersection of Penzance Boulevard and Caisson Lane in Lee County in reference to an aggravated assault.

Deputies said the incident began as a road rage situation near Daniels Parkway, when the victim, a delivery driver, was aggressively tailgated by another driver.

The victim pulled over to let the driver pass in an attempt to de-escalate the situation, but instead of passing, the other driver, identified as Bobby Jones III, 27, pulled over and approached the victim, LCSO said.

A confrontation began, and Jones slapped the victim and displayed a gun while threatening to shoot, according to deputies.

The victim called 911, and Jones was arrested.

Jones faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery.
