2 kayakers rescued after getting lost in Estero Bay

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. —

Bonita Springs fire crews rescued a pair of kayakers who got lost in the dark while kayaking in Estero Bay Wednesday night.

According to the Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District, firefighter-paramedics responded in a Marine Rescue Unit to reports of two kayakers lost in Estero Bay shortly after 8 p.m.

Rescue units initially had trouble locating the pair, who were tied off to a mile marker, until the Lee County Sheriff's Office used a spotlight and guided firefighters to the pair's location.

Firefighters then rescued the kayakers and brought them back to the launch site, Bonita Springs Fire said. No injuries were reported.
