Last day to vote on name for Collier County's new veterans nursing home

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —

Thursday is the last chance for Collier County residents to submit their choice for the name of Florida's new veterans nursing home.

State veterans' homes are named after deceased Medal of Honor recipients from Florida.

Collier County has a list of 13 suggested names:

• Hammett Lee Bowen Jr., Rank: Staff Sergeant, USA Conflict/Era: Vietnam War
• Bruce Wayne Carter, Rank: Private First Class, USMC Conflict/Era: Vietnam War
• William Merrill Corry Jr., Rank: Lieutenant Commander, USN Conflict/Era: Interim 1920 – 1940
• Nicholas Joseph Cutinha, Rank: Specialist Fourth Class, USA Conflict/Era: Vietnam War
• Robert Edward Femoyer, Rank: Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army Air Corps Conflict/Era: World War II
• David McCampbell, Rank: Commander (Highest Rank: Captain), USN Conflict/Era: World War II
• Thomas Buchanan McGuire Jr., Rank: Major, U.S. Army Air Corps Conflict/Era: World War II
• Robert Miller McTureous Jr., Rank: Private, USMC Conflict/Era: World War II
• Robert J. Miller, Rank: Staff Sergeant, USA Conflict/Era: War on Terrorism (Afghanistan)
