Man who crashed into Fort Myers police cruiser wanted for probation violation

A man is accused of violating the terms of his probation following an arrest for crashing into a Fort Myers police cruiser while intoxicated.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Russell Simpson, 54, crashed into a Fort Myers police car in the middle of the day. When officers tried to pull him over, Simpson kept on driving.

When finally stopped, officers observed the smell of alcohol on Simpson's breath and two open cans of alcohol in the car. Officers say he failed field sobriety tests.

Simpson was found guilty and placed on probation, which he is accused of violating.

Simpson is 6 feet tall, weighs 200 pounds and will be held without bond upon his arrest.
