SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, (WINK) — Saturday is off to a mild and muggy start, with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s by 8 a.m. Winds will be calm early, becoming southwesterly this afternoon at 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday

High temperatures will climb into the upper 80s across much of the area, while coastal communities stay a few degrees cooler thanks to an onshore breeze.

Humidity will also tick up today as moisture increases, so be sure to stay hydrated if you have outdoor plans.

Relief from the heat arrives later this afternoon, mainly for inland communities. A developing sea breeze will spark a few showers after about 3 p.m., primarily east of I-75, while beaches should remain mostly dry.

Sunday

Sunday will start in a similar fashion, with morning temperatures in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees. Another quick warm-up will push highs back into the upper 80s.

Skies will turn a bit cloudier as moisture increases, but rain chances remain limited. Only a few isolated showers are expected during the afternoon.

Looking Ahead

Drier conditions return Monday, with many areas staying rain-free. That will allow temperatures to climb into the low 90s, bringing a hot and steamy start to the workweek.

Beyond that, conditions look mostly dry heading toward next weekend.

The Weather Authority continues to monitor ongoing drought conditions and the potential for increased fire danger.

For today, fire danger remains at a moderate level.

Beach & Boating Forecast

It’s shaping up to be a great weekend to get out on the water.

Southeast winds will shift southwest this afternoon, keeping seas low with wave heights around 1 to 2 feet and only a light chop on bays and inland waters.

The UV index will be very high, near 11, so be sure to apply sunscreen frequently. Gulf water temperatures remain comfortable, holding near 77 degrees.
