Naples man arrested for DUI manslaughter after fatal US 41 crash

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — A 79-year-old motorcyclist died after a crash on U.S. 41 near Cays Drive in Collier County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 12:01 p.m. on Friday. A 43-year-old Naples man was driving a pickup truck south on U.S. 41 when his vehicle crossed the center line and entered the northbound lane, FHP said.

The pickup truck collided with a motorcycle driven by the 79-year-old man. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Crash debris struck two other motorcycles traveling north on U.S. 41. A fifth motorcycle also collided with the 79-year-old's bike, FHP said.

Three other motorcyclists, ages 43, 73 and 56, sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Marshall Jenkins of Naples was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter, two counts of DUI with property damage, and one count of DUI with injury. He was booked into the Collier County Jail, according to FHP.

The crash remains under investigation.
