SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, (WINK) — It’s another warm and muggy start across Southwest Florida, with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s. 

Sunday Forecast 

This evening, the WINK News Weather Authority is tracking inland showers and thunderstorms pushing to the East Coast.

The rest of the night, temperatures will cool into the 60s under partly cloudy skies.

There also could be a little bit of fog after midnight. 

Monday Outlook

Rain chances increase Monday as a backdoor cold front approaches the center of the state. While this front weakens before reaching South Florida, it will still bring an increase in moisture and switch winds to the northeast.

That added moisture will help trigger isolated showers and storms through the midday and afternoon hours inland, then push towards our coastal communities.

High temperatures will reach the upper 80s, with some areas nearing 90°.

Looking Ahead

Drier conditions return Tuesday, with rain chances dropping to near zero through the rest of the workweek. Humidity levels will also fall, but that comes with an increased fire risk.

The dry air will allow temperatures to climb a few degrees above average, with highs nearing or reaching 90° each afternoon. More seasonable conditions are expected to return next weekend.

Beach & Boating Forecast

It’s shaping up to be a great weekend to get out on the water.

South will shift west later on, keeping seas low with wave heights around 1 to 2 feet and only a light chop on bays and inland waters.

The UV index will be very high, near 11, so be sure to apply sunscreen frequently. Gulf water temperatures remain comfortable, holding near 79 degrees.
