Funds being raised for temporary repair project to restore access to Sanibel Fishing Pier

SANIBEL, Fla. —

Funds for a temporary repair project are being raised to bring back access to the Sanibel Fishing Pier.

According to the City of Sanibel, city council approved the repairs to address the damaged pier in a meeting on March 21 while they plan for a new replacement.

In addition, the city council approved a donor agreement between the Sanibel Fishing Pier Committee, the Charitable Foundation of the Islands and the City of Sanibel to raise private funds for the repairs.

The goal of the repairs is to allow residents and visitors to experience the pier for fishing, gathering and enjoying the waterfront on Sanibel.

The city said it is advancing plans for a replacement that is supported by grant funding from the Tourist Development Beach and Shoreline Funding Program. You can find more information about the pier online.
