US 41 in Collier County reopens after wildfire smoke causes closure

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — A major roadway in Collier County has reopened after troopers shut it down due to low visibility from a wildfire burning in Miami-Dade County.

The fire is currently burning along U.S. 41 between mile markers 27 and 42.

The Florida Highway Patrol closed a portion of U.S. 41 in Collier County because of the poor visibility conditions.

Troopers reopened the road and will continue to monitor the area as needed.

According to the latest official data released Wednesday morning, the Highway 41 Fire in west Miami-Dade had grown to over 6,000 acres and remained 0% contained.
