It's a toasty end to April with temperatures already in the 70s this morning. Conditions will stay dry and hot this afternoon with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.
The next chance for relief comes with a cold front approaching the Gulf Coast this weekend.
On Sunday, the Gulf Coast Weather Team has issued a Gulf Coast Weather Impact Day.
Scattered showers and storms will filter through the Gulf Coast Sunday as the front moves in. The main threats will be heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning. While this won't be a washout, this is the best chance for beneficial rain over the next week.
The highest rainfall totals will be in our northern communities in Charlotte and Desoto counties. Slightly drier air will filter in early next week ramping up our fire danger. Count on the Gulf Coast Storm Team to keep you informed.
