Wife accused of helping orchestrate attack-turned-robbery at Hendry County home

HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. —

A wife was arrested alongside two other suspects after Hendry County deputies said she helped coordinate an attack on her husband.

Deputies were called to a home on East State Road 80 on Monday night for a reported robbery.

According to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office, the 52-year-old victim said he was sitting outside when two men wearing hooded sweatshirts and face coverings approached him.

The victim was reportedly pushed to the ground and beaten in the face with a handgun several times as the suspects demanded money.

The suspects then zip-tied the victim's hands and feet as the victim's wife, Flora Norys Gonzalez, 64, witnessed the incident, according to HCSO.

Gonzalez ran outside to help her husband, and deputies were told that one of the suspects approached her and placed a knife at her side. She was then taken back into the home and surrendered $18,000 in cash to the suspects, the sheriff's office said.

Hendry County detectives continued to follow up on leads and noticed a number of inconsistencies in Gonzalez's story. According to HCSO, detectives discovered during questioning that Gonzalez knew one of the suspects and helped orchestrate the attack on her husband.

Gonzalez reportedly told detectives that the plan went awry and she offered the suspects money to get them to stop.

On Wednesday, Gonzalez was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated battery causing bodily harm, armed robbery, armed burglary, and false imprisonment. She was taken to the Hendry County Jail.

HCSO also arrested Jose Enrique Calafet Perez, 48, and Maykel Calafet Calderon, 42. Perez is facing charges of aggravated battery causing bodily harm, armed robbery, armed burglary, and false imprisonment. As for Calderon, he's facing charges of aggravated battery causing bodily harm, armed robbery, armed burglary, false imprisonment, and grand theft.

The sheriff's office said all three suspects are being held without bond.
