Woman charged in crash that killed 3 Palm Beach County deputies

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, (WINK) — A woman faces charges in a crash that killed three Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies.

State Attorney Alexcia Cox announced Corrinne Blue is charged with three counts of vehicular homicide in the deaths of Corporal Luis Paez Jr., Deputy Ignacio "Dan" Diaz and Deputy Ralph "Butch" Waller.

The crash happened Nov. 21, 2024, along State Road 80, about a half-mile west of Lion Country Safari Road.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators say Blue was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee in an unsafe manner and well above the posted 55 mph speed limit before hitting the deputies. The three were stopped along the road with their motorcycles.

"These charges follow a thorough review of the evidence and mark an important step in the pursuit of justice for the families of Corporal Paez, Deputy Diaz and Deputy Waller," Cox said. "These deputies were serving this community when their lives were tragically taken by a reckless driver."

Dave Kerner, Executive Director of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, said his office is thankful for the decision to seek and obtain the felony warrant for arrest.

"We now turn our attention to the judicial process, where a jury of the Defendant's peers will decide the ultimate outcome," Kerner said.

The Traffic Homicide Unit of the State Attorney's Office will prosecute the case.
