2 arrested following high-speed car chase in Hendry County

HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. —

Two men were arrested Wednesday night after a car chase in Hendry County.

According to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office, while on routine patrol, two deputies attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of 9th Street and Florida Avenue in the Clewiston community of Harlem.

The vehicle did not stop and continued driving through the Harlem community, speeding away from the deputies, HCSO said. The vehicle drove through numerous stop signs while continuing to evade the deputies.

The vehicle then turned south onto US-27 and accelerated to 90 mph while speeding through the City of Clewiston, HCSO said. The deputies continued to pursue the vehicle, with the chase reaching speeds of more than 100 mph.

The vehicle finally stopped in the City of South Bay. Both occupants exited the vehicle and began to run, HCSO said.

Deputies caught the driver, identified as Natarius Janard Harvey, 24, in a fenced area, HCSO said. Deputies also apprehended Chamorian D. Thicklin, 23, after a brief pursuit.

Both men were arrested. Thicklin faces charges of resisting arrest and felony probation violation. Harvey faces charges of fleeing/eluding law enforcement, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license.
