Caught on Camera: Deputies take down North Fort Myers homicide suspect

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of homicide in North Fort Myers.

On Thursday, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Shelby Lane, where, upon arrival found an unresponsive adult female suffering from multiple lacerations and puncture wounds.

The woman succumbed to her injuries despite life-saving efforts by first responders.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect, Alain Wilfredo Samon Cuadra, fled the scene in a white work van but was quickly located by K9 units in a nearby wooded area.

Body camera footage provided by the sheriff’s office demonstrated the fast takedown of Cuadra.

Deputies interviewed several witnesses, who sighted Cuadra being with the victim immediately prior to, and during the incident.

Cuadra was taken into the Lee County Jail and charged with second-degree murder.

WINK News was on the active scene on Thursday, where reporter Miyoshi Price spoke with witnesses and neighbors about the incident.

Robert Burchetta, who lives in the community, arrived at the scene after seeing social media posts about the incident. He lives down the road and runs a business nearby.

"I see all the caution tape out there, all the cops out front… and then, of course, all the cops in the back there too," Burchetta said.

Burchetta said he wanted to check if anyone had been captured yet. "I saw it on Facebook and wanted to see if the guy was captured yet, worried about being down there if he might be at large still," he said.

The sheriff's office has not released information about the victim's identity.
