Woman killed on Shelby Lane in North Fort Myers; K9 units catch suspect in nearby woods

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. —

A woman was killed during a domestic disturbance in North Fort Myers, and deputies said a man is facing a murder charge.

At approximately 4:49 p.m. on Thursday, Lee County deputies responded to the call in the 16000 block of Shelby Lane.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office said deputies found the victim was unresponsive and suffering from multiple lacerations and puncture wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency medical services personnel attempting lifesaving efforts.

According to LCSO, the suspect, later identified as Alain Wilfredo Samon Cuadra, 44, was located nearby in the woods by K9 units and taken into custody.

Witnesses reportedly told detectives that Samon Cuadra was seen with the victim immediately before and during the incident. According to the sheriff's office, preliminary findings indicate they both knew each other and lived together.

Samon Cuadra is facing a second-degree murder charge and was taken to the Lee County Jail.

LCSO said this is an active investigation, and investigators are working closely with the State Attorney's Office.
