Saturday Forecast

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, (WINK) — Saturday starts off mild and muggy, with temperatures in the 70s across most areas. Winds will be calm early but increase quickly by the afternoon, turning southwesterly at 15–20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Be sure to secure loose items and use caution if you’re out on the water.

Highs will climb into the upper 80s to lower 90s. Coastal communities will feel more humid thanks to the southwest wind, while inland areas feel slightly drier.

Because of the dry air and gusty winds for our inland communities, a Red Flag Warning is in effect for Glades and Hendry counties, meaning any fires that develop could spread rapidly.

A cold front will begin moving through northern communities like Charlotte and Highlands counties around 5 PM, then continue south, reaching Collier County shortly after sunset.

This front will bring gusty winds and scattered storms. Periods of rain will continue overnight into early Sunday, so keep an umbrella handy for your evening plans. Sarasota county is under a level 1 risk of seeing severe weather tonight, primarily just gusty winds and lightning. 

Sunday Outlook

Sunday begins muggy, with lingering clouds and rain. Expect on-and-off showers through the morning and into the afternoon, not a washout, but unsettled at times.

Cloud cover will keep temperatures cooler, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Scattered storms will remain possible into the evening hours.

Looking Ahead

Drier conditions return on Monday, with many areas staying rain-free. Temperatures will rebound into the upper 80s, bringing a warm and steamy start to the workweek. Beyond that, conditions look mostly dry through the upcoming week.

Beach & Boating Forecast

This won’t be the best weekend for boating. Breezy conditions today, followed by rain on Sunday, will make for less-than-ideal conditions on the water.

Southwest winds this afternoon will range from 10 to 15 knots, with gusts up to 25 knots at times. This will lead to rougher conditions in the Gulf, with seas building to 2–3 feet and choppy inland waters.

The UV index remains very high, near 11, so be sure to apply sunscreen frequently if you’re spending time outdoors. Gulf water temperatures stay comfortable, around 82 degrees.
