Fort Myers police conducting death investigation on Highlands Circle, one detained

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — The Fort Myers Police Department is conducting a death investigation on Highlands Circle in Fort Myers on Monday.

Police gathered in a neighborhood located on Highlands Circle at around 7 a.m. on Monday. WINK News reporter Emily Young was on location, where she observed about six officers and detectives on the scene for several hours.

An update at 2 p.m. from the police department says one person has been detained for questioning. Police further added the body has not been identified and next of kin has not been notified and this is an ongoing investigation.

WINK News contacted the Fort Myers Police Department for a statement or any additional information regarding this death investigation. Police confirmed a death investigation is underway, but did not share any additional information.

The Fort Myers Police Department crime scene unit has not ruled this death as suspicious at this point in time.
