FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — A busy Fort Myers intersection is about to get a huge makeover, and it could impact your commute starting Monday.
Lee County crews are beginning preliminary work at Treeline Avenue and Daniels Parkway, from Jetport Loop to Heartwood Boulevard.
Drivers will start seeing traffic control devices going up, such as construction signage, lane guides and other safety measures to help navigate the work zone.
The plan is to redesign the intersection to reflect how people actually drive today.
One northbound left-turn lane will become a through lane, and a through lane will become a second right-turn lane, all aimed at reducing backups and keeping traffic moving, especially during peak hours.
The project also includes ADA upgrades, such as improved crosswalks, curb ramps, and pedestrian access, to make the intersection safer and easier to navigate.
