Pine Ridge Road interchange at I-75 gets major redesign to ease traffic

NAPLES, Fla. (WINK) — A diverging diamond interchange is taking shape along Pine Ridge Road at Interstate 75, one of Collier County’s busiest corridors.

For drivers, congestion here has become routine.

“It’s horrible,” Chris Manor said.

Traffic tends to worsen during peak hours, with stop-and-go conditions.

“Especially during the day, you know, like rush hour,” Caye Plamondon said.

To address that, the interchange is being rebuilt into a diverging diamond as part of the state’s Moving Florida Forward initiative. The project has been underway since early 2025, and the Florida Department of Transportation says crews are making steady progress.

"Right now they are working toward finishing up some of the initial reconstruction of the interchange," Zawodny said. "They've done a lot of the work on underground utilities, drainage installation. They've been reconstructing some of the ramps and the ponds in at the interchange, and then also doing a lot of widening and paving along Pine Ridge Road."

The design is intended to reduce delays and improve safety for drivers moving through the interchange, while also preparing for continued growth in the area.

"The city is growing," Plamondon said. "We can't stop it. So anything that we can do to make things more safer and to flow better would be a okay in my book."
