Charlotte County offers $340K to help build affordable housing

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK)—The Charlotte County Commission is requesting applications for local government support to develop affordable housing.

According to the county commission, $340,000 of local government funding is available for multi-family developments seeking housing credits from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation pursuant to FHFC RFA 2026-201 and Local Government Area of Opportunity Funding from the County Commission.

Applications related to FHFC RFA 2026-201 are due no later than 5 p.m. on June 5.

All applications submitted will be reviewed by the Charlotte HOME Review Committee, which will make recommendations to the board at its Aug. 28 meeting. 

The County Commission will decide whether to authorize a commitment letter and a loan to the recommended developer.

The County Commission will not consider issuing a commitment letter to provide financing for any development unless the applicant has satisfied the general requirements set forth in the guidelines, submits a timely, complete, and acceptable application, and complies with all of the procedures and requirements contained within the County Commission's application procedures and program guidelines.
