Steak knife used by Cape Coral man accused of aggravated assault during argument, officers say

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

A Cape Coral man was arrested on Sunday after being accused of attacking someone while in possession of a steak knife.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department arrest report, officers responded to reports of an assault at around 3:05 p.m. Upon arriving at the residence, officers spoke with Jaxson Williams, 31, and the victim.

Williams told officers that he had gotten into a verbal argument with the victim and that the victim had stabbed him in the face, the report said. Williams had a small cut on his chin and refused further medical treatment on the scene.

The victim told officers that Williams had been drinking and causing verbal disturbances with everyone in the residence at the time. Williams then walked into the victim's room. The victim asked Williams to leave so they could sleep, which caused Williams to become verbally aggressive, telling the victim he was going to grab a butcher knife, the report said.

The victim then said Williams walked in the direction of the kitchen and returned, becoming aggressive, lunging toward the victim, CCPD said. The victim said they did not see the knife in Williams' possession; however, multiple witnesses at the scene told officers that Williams had a black steak knife in his possession.

During the scuffle, the victim felt threatened, and out of self-defense, used their pocketknife and swiped at Williams to get him to move away.

Both knives were collected by CCPD as evidence.

Williams was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
