130 SWFL fire stations receive care packages from Fort Myers beverage company

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK)—A Southwest Florida company turned International Firefighters' Day into action with a community appreciation event.

Suncoast Beverage Sales partnered with Phorm Energy to host the event this morning at their Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard facility in Fort Myers. Firefighters from across the area were invited to a brief recognition ceremony.

The company handed out cases of energy drinks to show support for local crews.

"This is what you guys do every day. You're part of the community, but as I said before, you're the unsung heroes that are protecting us and keeping us alive when danger arises," said Tim Mitchell, chief executive officer of Suncoast Beverage Sales.

About 130 fire stations across Southwest Florida received care packages as part of the effort. The company calls it a small thank-you for what it says is a job that never goes unnoticed.
