Operation 'Gulf of America' leads to 15 accused of varying drug trafficking charges

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — Florida State Attorney Amira Fox announced the arrest of 15 people for varying drug trafficking related charges following a Netforce operation labeled “Gulf of America”.

On Wednesday, State Attorney Fox spoke at the Riverside Community Center in Fort Myers, along with law enforcement officials from Lee and Collier counties, to announce the recent conclusion of Operation Gulf of America.

Fox began the conference detailing the multi-year effort, calling it “a complex, multi-year investigation into drug trafficking organizations in Southwest Florida.”

The state attorney said the organizations have trafficked illegal narcotics into the United States from Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Fifteen people have been arrested in relation to Operation Gulf of America throughout Lee and Collier counties, and seven search warrants have been issued, which, according to Fox, yielded 30 guns and almost $150,000 in US currency.

In total, the following narcotics and amounts have been seized by Netforce:

• 1.83 grams of Fentanyl

• Nearly 10 kilograms of Cocaine

• 10.4 grams of Oxycodone

• 1,127 grams of Marijuana

• 730.6 grams of THC wax
