LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (WINK)—A water main break in Lehigh Acres prompted a precautionary boil water notice for multiple neighborhoods and Lehigh Elementary School on May 6, 2026.
The Florida Governmental Utility Authority said the break occurred at 1002 East Third Street, causing low water pressure and temporary service interruptions. FGUA crews completed repairs and restored water service to all affected homes and the school.
The precautionary boil water notice affects more than a dozen streets in the area. Affected locations include Cleveland Avenue, Washington Avenue, Thompson Avenue, North Avenue, all homes on Maycrest Road and Richland Road, Highland Avenue, Maple Avenue North, Lake Avenue, Eighth Avenue, Greenwood Avenue, Lincoln Avenue, Fifth Avenue, Lehigh Elementary School at 200 Schoolside Drive, East Fourth Street, all of East Third Street, David Avenue, and all homes on Thistle Court, Briar Court, Rosewood Court and Oaklawn Court.
FGUA notified customers through its website, text messages, phone calls, and door tags delivered to affected addresses.

The utility authority encourages residents to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines during the advisory. Customers should bring drinking or cooking water to a rolling boil for 1 minute before use or use bottled water as an alternative.
The notice will remain in effect until water quality testing confirms the water is safe for consumption. A Florida Department of Health-certified laboratory will analyze water samples, a process that typically takes two to three business days.
FGUA apologized for any inconvenience caused by the outage and advisory period.
