Child reports molestation in Charlotte County, 71-year-old man arrested

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. —

A Port Charlotte man is accused of molesting a child, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.

A press release from CCSO said that the victim, who is under the age of 12, told authorities in Hillsborough County that they had been molested on multiple occasions in Charlotte County.

When detectives questioned Timothy Roy Bush, 71, they say he confessed to the sexual activity. He was arrested and transported to the Charlotte County Jail on three counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim under the age of 12.

Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell commented on the arrest in the release.

“While I certainly appreciate my team for their work in finding and arresting these predators, it kills me to see so many children being hurt like this. I have made it very clear that this disgusting crime will not be tolerated in Charlotte County, and as long as there are people doing this, we are going to keep making them famous. To the parents in our community, please check in with your little ones. Have the difficult conversations. Believe them if they tell you they don’t feel safe in a certain place. Always report if they share something of this nature. I promise you, we take every report seriously and we will investigate thoroughly,” Sheriff Prummell said.
