SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, (WINK) — The Weather Authority is tracking very hot conditions this afternoon, with temperatures in the 90s and “feels-like” readings climbing into the triple digits due to high humidity.

High pressure overhead is causing air to sink and heat at the surface. When you combine that with high humidity, it will feel like the triple digits across much of SWFL, especially inland communities.

Plan to stay in the shade and drink plenty of water during peak heating hours from 1–5 PM. A stray shower or two can’t be ruled out, but overall rain chances remain low today, with more sunshine than clouds expected.

Plan ahead:

• Drink plenty of water
• Limit outdoor activity during peak heat
• Seek shade from 2–4 PM, the hottest part of the day

Rain chances are very low, with only a stray shower possible this afternoon. Beach, pool, and boating plans are a go, just stay sun-smart!

Sunday Outlook – Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day begins warm and humid, with a chance for a few showers in the morning. Most of SWFL should remain dry, so brunch plans are still on!

Temperatures will climb even hotter than Saturday, likely reaching around 94° in Fort Myers. Heat index values will once again soar into the 100s for many communities.

Rain chances increase slightly as isolated showers and storms return to the forecast. A few showers are possible in the morning, with additional activity developing during the afternoon — mainly across inland areas.

Communities around Lake Okeechobee could see periods of heavier downpours Sunday afternoon. There is a level 1 risk of seeing severe weather within these storms. Expect more cloud cover compared to today, but temperatures will still soar into the mid-90s.

• Evening

Expect a bit more cloud cover than today, along with a few afternoon showers possible. Stay hydrated and keep the sunscreen handy!

Looking Ahead

Rain chances remain modest this week, generally running around 20–30% each day. Temperatures will stay consistent, holding in the low to mid-90s throughout the week.

Heat remains the dominant story, with highs in the mid-90s each day, a few degrees above normal for this time of year.
