Florida hunters can now apply for two statewide alligator hunting opportunities as application periods officially opened Thursday for the 2026 season.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, applications are now being accepted for both the Statewide Alligator Harvest Program and the Alligator Super Hunt.
Hunters have until May 18 to submit one Phase I application for the Statewide Alligator Harvest Program. Those selected through a random drawing will be allowed to hunt in one alligator management unit or county.
Officials said all applications submitted during the statewide hunt period will have an equal chance of being selected. Applications can be submitted at county tax collector offices, through licensed agents or online through GoOutdoorsFlorida.com.
The Alligator Super Hunt application period runs through June 8. Hunters can pay to apply multiple times to increase their chances of being selected. Those chosen may be allowed to hunt in most alligator management units and counties across Florida.
The commission is also warning hunters about ongoing drought conditions across much of the state. Officials said some boat ramps are currently closed because of low water levels and advised hunters to consider whether they can safely access hunting areas before applying.
More information about both hunts is available through the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission website.
