Motorcycle pursuit involving state troopers, aerial support, ends with arrest in Three Oakes

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

A man is in custody after troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol say they chased a motorcycle going over 100 mph across Lee County.

According to FHP, troopers first clocked a Harley Davidson motorcycle going 91 mph in a posted 55 mph zone on SR-82 near 40th Street Southwest. After passing the trooper, FHP says the driver increased his speed to 102 mph and turned onto Alabama Road.

Troopers say they closed the distance and tried to initiate a traffic stop. However, the driver, later identified as Adam Troy Odell, 27, didn't stop.

FHP says Odell disregarded stop signs, drove on the sidewalk, and even drove the wrong way. Because of the dangerous driving, troopers say they stopped pursuing Odell and observed him from a distance, with the help of aerial support from the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

The motorcycle drove down I-75 and eventually exited at Alico Road, still disregarding any red traffic signals, FHP says.

Later on, troopers found the motorcycle in an apartment off of Tuscany Park Drive. FHP says Odell tried to drive away again, however he crashed into the right front of a trooper's vehicle.

Odell sustained minor injuries, and after being released from the hospital he was placed under arrest. He faces charges of reckless driving, felony fleeing and eluding and driving at extremely dangerous speeds.
