Driver accused of pulling gun on woman for honking at him in Immokalee McDonald's drive-thru

IMMOKALEE, Fla. —

A 21-year-old man was arrested after Collier County deputies said a road rage encounter near Immokalee Road escalated into a reported gun threat late Thursday night.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, deputies responded around 11:53 p.m. to Randall Boulevard and Eighth Street Northeast after receiving reports that a driver in a gray Ford pickup truck pointed a handgun at another vehicle.

The report stated the incident began after two sisters left the McDonald’s on Immokalee Road and briefly stopped behind a pickup truck at a stop sign in the drive-thru exit.

The driver of the other vehicle told deputies that the truck had been stopped for a while, so she honked her horn before both vehicles drove off.

Deputies said the pickup truck later followed the women onto Immokalee Road and then onto Oil Well Road. One of the women told the deputy the truck swerved toward their vehicle before the driver held up a handgun through the open window near Oil Well Road and Orange Grove Trail.

The passenger told deputies she feared the driver would shoot at them.

Deputies identified the driver of the pickup truck as David Brizius, 21, of Moore Haven.

Investigators said Brizius denied pointing a gun at anyone and told deputies he never removed the firearm from beneath his seat.

According to the arrest report, deputies later found a green Hi-Point 9mm handgun under the driver’s seat of the truck.

Brizius was arrested and faces a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. He was taken to the Naples Jail Center.
