Near-100-acre brush fire burns on I-75 north of Bayshore Road in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. —

A brush fire is continuing to burn near I-75 at mile marker 151 in Charlotte County, north of Bayshore Road.

As of 7:30 a.m Monday, the fire is 98 acres in size and 85% contained. Smoke can be seen on I-75 near the site of the fire.

Crews say they got the call for a brush fire at 4:08 p.m. on Saturday. When Charlotte County Fire & EMS crews arrived, they say they found two brush fires. The two fires merged into one larger fire.

Charlotte County crews are working with the Florida Forest Service, Bayshore Fire, and the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office to contain the flames. Currently, no injuries have been reported, and there are no structures that have been damaged.
