Crews battle brush fire between Belmont Street East and Rance Street East in Lehigh Acres

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. —

Crews are battling a brush fire between Belmont Street East and Rance Street East on Tuesday in Lehigh Acres.

According to the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District, the fire jumped a canal between the two streets, but firefighters have both sides under control.

A few structures were in danger from a possible spread of the fire, but there are no damaged structures reported, the fire district said.

According to the Florida Forest Service, the fire is an acre and 20% contained as of 4:30 p.m. The fire district said the incident appears to be under control. Crews are mopping up hot spots.

There are multiple roads closed in the area of the fire, and the Lee County Sheriff's Office is assisting with the closures due to emergency vehicle presence. The roads impacted include Sunrise Boulevard, Grant Boulevard, Genoa Avenue South, Barcelona Street East, Belmont Street East, Binkley Street East and Andalucia Avenue South.
