61-year-old Andrew Sheets is accused of video voyeurism after allegedly filming himself and others using the restroom during the April 18 event. According to the arrest report, two undercover Naples police officers were among those recorded.
Florida law prohibits recording someone in a restroom without consent.
The arrest report states Sheets brought a body camera to document Naples PrideFest. He posted a 40-minute video from that day to YouTube.
The suspect can be seen wearing the body camera as he enters the restroom in the video. The recording continues inside before he leaves.
"It's a little hard to believe at first that somebody would actually do that," said Kai McGuffin, a park visitor.
McGuffin said being recorded in such a vulnerable setting would be disturbing.
"I mean, I'd feel targeted or really confused as to why I was suddenly on the internet in the bathroom at some public event, and especially the heat around it being a pride event," McGuffin said.
Cambier Park is known for hosting group events. Daria Buduko and Brooke Taylor, both in town for a tennis tournament, said they've always felt safe at the park.
"It's usually a fairly safe place," Taylor said. "I've never had any bad interactions with any people."
Buduko said the allegations were shocking.
"It's just shocking, especially since this place is super safe in my opinion," Buduko said.
Taylor added that restrooms should be private spaces.
"They're doing personal things you don't want to get recorded in the bathroom," Taylor said.
In the arrest report, the two undercover officers stated they felt violated and embarrassed by the video being shared online.
Naples Pride and the Naples Police Department did not respond to requests for comment.
