Naples Mayor Teresa Heitmann's legal team disputes drug test results in court

NAPLES, Fla. —

Naples Mayor Teresa Heitmann's legal team is disputing a March 26 drug test result that was flagged for cannabinoids as they work to address the allegations in court.

While Heitmann did not appear in court in person Monday, her attorney filed a waiver of arraignment and entered a formal denial of the alleged violation of her probation.

The defense is challenging the flagged drug test, arguing that subsequent hair and urine tests both returned negative results.

Heitmann had a warrant issued for her arrest on April 17 after the failed drug test, which violated the terms of her probation after she pleaded no contest to a 2024 DUI charge.
