Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation announces record-breaking bald eagle nesting season

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

On Monday, the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation announced a record-breaking season for island bald eagles.

According to SCCF, Sanibel and Captiva experienced another highly successful nesting season, with a total of 13 eaglets fledged, which is the highest count on record.

On Sanibel, four out of five nests were successful, each producing two healthy young eaglets. On Captiva, all 3 nests were successful, with a total of five eaglets fledged.

"After a great year for the island’s bald eagles, we look forward to working with our amazing volunteers and partners this fall for the 2026-27 nesting season," SCCF said.
