South Fort Myers road construction brings major changes for drivers

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

Drivers in South Fort Myers are facing significant changes to traffic patterns as construction projects reshape major roadways in the area.

The newest change is a roundabout on Fiddlesticks Boulevard, where traffic is now shifting during construction of the Three Oaks Parkway extension. This project will create a direct connection between Alico Road and Daniels Parkway, which county leaders say should reduce congestion on some of the area's most crowded roads.

The I-75 and Daniels Parkway interchange is also being transformed into a diverging diamond, while widening projects continue along Daniels Parkway.

Last month, crews tore up the intersection of Daniels Parkway and Palomino Lane as part of the overall improvement plan. The goal is to make it easier for people to move through this fast-growing area.

With years of construction still ahead, county leaders said drivers should get used to seeing even more changes. Work is expected to be completed in the spring of 2028.
