Cape Coral Yacht Club redevelopment brings visible changes to marina

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

Construction is underway at the Cape Coral Yacht Club marina, with lined fencing, heavy equipment, and visible progress marking the redevelopment project.

Cape Coral resident Mary Kish shared her perspective on the changes.

"You know, just look at the water," Kish said.

She reflected on the area's past and expressed hope for its future.

"Big changes. I mean, we were here when there was the old place before the boathouse. And then we always loved to bring people to the boathouse. And we're hoping it rebuilds, you know, soon," Kish said.

The redevelopment has brought noticeable activity to the site, with construction materials increasing over the past few months. Industrial vehicles, workers, and dirt-moving operations were observed at the marina area Thursday.

Jill Harrell, who walks her dog at the Yacht Club almost daily, described the growing activity.

"The more I came down here, you could see that there was more going on, more people going in and out, and a louder noise sound like they were pounding concrete or something," Harrell said.

Wright Construction Group is the company working to improve the Yacht Club waterfront.

The City of Cape Coral stated that the council has not yet made a final decision on the project's total cost, funding, or construction timelines.

No date has been set for these decisions, but the city council is expected to address them in the future.
