A fatal crash has closed all northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near the Charlotte-Lee County line, with traffic being diverted at Exit 143, Bayshore Road.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office stated, “Due to a serious traffic crash near the Lee–Charlotte County line on I‑75 northbound, all lanes are currently closed. Traffic is being diverted at Exit 143 (Bayshore Road). Please avoid the area and seek alternate routes until further notice.”
The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the crash occurred at mile marker 150 in Punta Gorda and reported a fatality.
All lanes remain blocked as of the latest update.
