Dog found dead inside crate on side of road in Cape Coral prompts investigation

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

A dog was found dead inside a crate near the intersection of Durden Parkway and Ramsey Boulevard in Cape Coral.

On Friday, May 15, at approximately 8 p.m., Cape Coral police officers responded to the area after receiving a call about a suspicious animal crate on the side of the road that the caller said was not there before.

Police found the black and brown French bulldog inside a metal dog crate with a blanket tied over the top of it. According to the Cape Coral Police Department, the dog weighed approximately 25 pounds, and there were no tracking or name tags on it.
