Marco Island Police Chief Tracy Frazzano to retire

MARCO ISLAND, Fla. —

Marco Island Police Chief Tracy Frazzano is retiring at the end of May after spending nearly seven years with the force, according to interim City Manager Casey Lucius.

Frazzano said in a letter to Lucius that she is proud to have represented the City of Marco Island and its officers.

Lucius said that once a transition plan is developed, an acting police chief will be named.

Frazzano was appointed chief of police for the Marco Island Police Department in August 2019 after a national search. She was the first woman to be named chief in the department's history.

The City of Marco Island said that during Frazzano's tenure, MIPD earned its first-ever accreditation through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.

Frazzano previously worked with the Montclair Police Department in New Jersey for 25 years and rose to the rank of deputy chief. She is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy (Session 261) and was honored with the Distinguished Graduate Award, which was presented to the top 1% of her class.
