Southwest Florida’s first instant ramen bar is bringing Korean street food culture to the table

LEE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — A taste of Korea is now heating up Southwest Florida, and it is anything but your typical college cup noodles. At Seoul Vibez, guests can build fully customized ramen bowls, snack on Korean street food and browse aisles packed with imported treats from across Asia.

The restaurant has quickly made a name for itself as the only instant ramen bar in Southwest Florida, bringing a popular food trend from Korea straight to local food lovers.

Owners Shin and Gu said the idea came to life after traveling through Korea together and falling in love with the country’s street food culture.

“We loved checking out the little stores and eating the street food,” Shin said. “We wanted to bring a bit of Korea back to Southwest Florida.”

The couple also said authentic Korean snacks and ingredients were difficult to find locally. At one point, they were driving to states like Georgia just to stock up on their favorite treats.

Now, they are bringing those flavors directly to the community.

Inside the ramen lab, guests start by choosing from about 40 different ramen varieties. Options range from rich pork broth ramen to spicy curry chicken and creamy, cheesy flavors.

From there, customers can build their bowls with toppings like marinated eggs, chicken and pork chashu.

Some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes include the cheesy ramen and the Shin Black and Gold ramen varieties.

But the menu goes far beyond noodles. Seoul Vibez also serves Korean street food favorites that Shin said were a big part of his childhood.

"This is food that I grew up with, and I wanted to share it with people in Southwest Florida,” he said.

The menu features items like tteokbokki, tornado potatoes, triangle gimbap and traditional gimbap, giving customers a chance to try flavors that are staples in Korean street markets.

The restaurant also doubles as a mini market filled with Korean, Chinese and Japanese snacks and drinks.

Shelves are lined with everything from beer-flavored Lay’s chips and spicy hot pot chips to fruity ice cream treats and imported beverages.

Shin said he has noticed a major shift in how people view Asian culture and cuisine compared to when he was younger.

“I feel like due to social media, people are a lot more open to trying and eating new things,” Shin said. “When I was a kid, I would get made fun of for having kimchi. Now I have kids coming in here and asking to try it.”

For Shin and Gu, the space is about much more than food. They hope it becomes a place where people can gather, relax and experience Korean culture together.

“This is the kind of place where after you eat, you don’t immediately have to leave,” Shin said. “You can come sit on the couches, have a drink, eat ice cream and sing karaoke. We want to share our culture with others.”
