Safety upgrades planned for Burnt Store Road in Cape Coral

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

Lee County leaders are expected to approve a contract for $3,029,889.01 on safety improvements along Burnt Store Road in Cape Coral, with construction potentially beginning next month.

The upgrades will focus on a five-mile stretch of Burnt Store Road, from Delilah Drive north to Vincent Avenue. Planned improvements include four-foot-wide paved shoulders, new right and left turn lanes at Caloosa Parkway, rumble stripes, guardrails, road signs, and fresh pavement markings.

Lee County leaders are also expected to approve the purchase of a small piece of property along Burnt Store Road North, just south of Northwest 40th Lane on the west side of the road. The county plans to pay approximately $41,000, plus closing costs, for the land to make room for a future road expansion.

The widening of Burnt Store Road is considered a priority transportation project for Lee County.

Tuesday's Board of County Commissioners meeting is at 9:30 a.m.
